EPICURE: Coffee To Study By

I frequent the Fireside Coffee Lodge, a decidedly anachronistic place. The place is open 24 hours and makes decent coffee. It might not be Stumptown, but it's hard to beat this place for studying: you can generally find a place to plug your laptop in, connect to the Internet wirelessly, and get to work.

Much to my surprise, this vegan cookie sold there tasted rather good, and unlike rocks and twigs.

It's about the only place I'm aware of that's near the Ross Island Bridge (close to my house) and has more places to plug your laptop in than Stumptown or Coffee Time. If you're in the downtown area, check out Backspace, which serves a mean coffee, has great Internet access and interesting art shows.

  • yeah, 'cause Stumptown has 2 outlets in the whole joint, by the couch that is always being utilized by "artist" types. I'm a big fan of the Red and Black Cafe http://www.redandblackcafe.com/

lots of places to plug in,WiFi, _very nice_ servers (unlike stumptown's surly hipsters) and good coffee (oatmeal too) and you don't have to put up with stumptown's rage inspiring patrons

  • It's not their fault that you don't shop at http://www.americanapparel.net. Succumb to the powers of the Hipster Nation and be assimilated. Read a copy of Vice, while you're at it.
