EPICURE: The Freshman Bakery & Cafe (click me)

Taiwanese-influenced in culinary tradition, I have yet to eat a meal here that wasn't delicious. Very affordable (nearly all entrees are $6-8), and a pleasant departure from the grotesquely generic "Chinese" cuisines found at most restaurants.

Also, tasty bubble tea and Chinese pastries.

  • I agree with you whole heartedly about the horrible bland american-chinese cuisine found in Oregon. I just returned from a month long stay in Taiwan, and miss the food there so much...especially the steamed dumplings with soup inside. The Freshman Bakery and Cafe is the only place I have been able to locate in the greater Portland area that comes close to authentic Taiwanese cuisine. The food is delicious and good in price and the service friendly.

  • Wow, that's good to hear. This also warns me that I may not come back so quickly if I ever made it to Taiwan :-)
